The Simple Word: simply delicious.

Niall’s cocktail, The Simple Word, has been chosen as one of Tasmania’s top three cocktails in the competition. He’s now set to show off the drink at the Australian national finals – and if he wins that, he’ll represent Australia in the world finals, which take place in Russia. Named after Niall’s favourite Ernest Hemingway quote, the Simple Word is a delicious cocktail blend of two islands, combining the rum of Cuba with the apple cider of Tasmania. The idea was to make something uniquely Tasmanian that could appeal to any palate. Other local bars have taken notice, and Niall’s even looking at getting bars in other states to start making the cocktail. While it works best with the French farmhouse style of Willie Smiths, you can also use Lost Pippin Heritage of Spreyton Dark Cider to whip up a Simple Word with a difference. Head to Niall’s Facebook to page get the details or, if you’re in Hobart, head into the IXL Long Bar at the Henry Jones Hotel and try the Simple Word for yourself.
